About Target
Target is the official publication of the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME). Its purpose is to share manufacturing and organizational best practices in all types of manufacturing operations from job shops to high-volume repetitive factories. Target is written for manufacturing professionals, primarily senior and mid-level manufacturing management, who are continuously reinventing products and services to meet tough competitive challenges. Target covers a wide range of topics, offering “how-to” information on productivity improvements, leading-edge concepts, and lessons learned from people who’ve implemented them. It features articles and columns that are designed to help readers improve their global manufacturing competitiveness, whether they need to learn the fundamentals of implementing the latest manufacturing strategies or about innovative improvement concepts. The print version of Target, which is published six times a year, is distributed only to AME members. Articles published in the current issue of Target are available free to our Web audience at www.ameTarget.org. The Target archive on ameTarget.com offers the full text of most articles published in Target since 1985; it is open to AME members and others who’ve registered. About AME
The Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) is North America’s premier organization for the exchange of knowledge in organizational excellence through the implementation of techniques such as Lean Tools, Leadership, Lean Product Development, Lean Supply Chain, and Lean Accounting. We’re a community whose members want to improve the competitiveness of their organizations and work together by sharing knowledge. AME’s power is in the mentoring relationships that take place among our members. We are an organization that provides company leaders with educational opportunities to leading-edge topics from leaders and fellow practitioners by attending events and through networking. We offer a forum whereby members can stay current with new and developing management and operational techniques. There is also the opportunity to stay ahead of competition by reading Target magazine which is full of case studies and how-tos of practitioner-implemented process improvements as well as innovative concepts. We also make available to members our host regional best practice workshops, and organize regional and annual conferences. AME is run by volunteers from business and academia who relentlessly provides their support, energy, and resources from their organizations to help your company prosper in today’s challenging global marketplace.
